Welcome!
We would love to get to know you and your dog, but first, let us tell you a little bit about us!
We have been caring for dogs in our home since 2016, but our dog experience did not begin there. Alex started in the professional animal care field in 2010, working at a dog boarding facility for two years. She then worked at a vet hospital for three years as a vet tech assistant while attending Chico State for a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. During her time at Chico State, she raised two yellow lab puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB). Carmel, the first puppy she raised, ultimately showed that being a guide dog was not her path and Alex adopted her as a pet. The second puppy, Granada, is now a working guide dog in Texas, where she loves her job and is adored by her partner. Alex loved working with these puppies and wanted to continue to make a difference in the world. She officially began her career at GDB in 2015, working in the Neonatal department taking care of all of the breeding dogs and newborn puppies. Alex still currently works at GDB where she has worked her way up to a supervisory role in the neonatal department.
Ashley has been working in the animal industry for a long time as well. She attended Cat Tales Zoological Training Center in Washington state in 2013, where she earned her Professional Zookeeper degree, specializing in working with large felines. After graduation, Ashley worked at a Wildlife Sanctuary in Nevada as an intern before becoming a lead keeper. In 2015, Ashley started working at a dog boarding facility, The Pet Inn, in Sacramento, CA. During her time at The Pet Inn, Ashley began an internship with a local dog training business, Animal Minds Behavior & Training, to learn hands on training under the guidance of two mentors, Susan Rooney and Terra Ruiz. She then continued gaining experience while dog training with clients at The Pet Inn. Ashley landed her dream position of working with tigers and other big cats in 2017 at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. In 2022, Ashley stepped away from her zoo keeping position to grow not only Rocket Dog Adventures from home, but also her family with Alex. In 2023 we welcomed a baby boy, Finn.
Together we have a multitude of dog experience and knowledge, ranging from medical to behavior and everything in between! We currently have three dogs of our own, and each brings their own uniqueness to the family. Rolo is a mini Aussie, Fondue is a Lab/Golden cross, and Hadley is a little bit of everything! We’d love to talk with you more about watching your dog in our home, or helping you bring out the best in your dog with training. Please reach out by phone or e-mail to talk with us more!
